Overview: The Doubles Challenge Division is tailored for experienced players who possess a high level of skill and a strong competitive drive. It's where ILSA members can come together in a team format to test their abilities, strategize, and vie for victory in a format more geared towards national tournaments.

Schedule: 

Below is a guideline on timing for each round. Timing may adjust as bracket progresses. 

• Round 1: Will start June 2 
• Round 2: Will start no later than June 12 
• Round 3: Will start no later than June 23
• Round 4: Will start no later than July 3
• Round 5: Will start no later than July 15 
• Round 6: Will start no later than July 25 
• Round 7: Will start no later than August 4 
• Round 8: Will start no later than August 14 
• We will try to schedule and play out the Final 4 on the same day 

**Teams get roughly 10 day windows to complete the match in each round, but it is encouraged to schedule the next round match if both teams have already been determined.

Overall Format: 

• A double elimination bracket will be used. Each team will be guaranteed two games. Even if you lose your first match, you still have the ability to win the whole thing.
• Teams will be randomly assigned seeds for the opening round of the bracket.
• Each game will consist of a 16-frame doubles game, with players switching colors after frame 8. Shooting order will be YBBY.
• Lag, flip a coin or rock, paper, scissors to determine color.
• If the score is tied at the end of 16 frames, players will play an additional 2 frames until tie is broken. Remain on the same color as frame 16 for any additional frames.
• Do not start warming up before both teams are at the court.
• Each player may throw 4 practice discs before frame 1 and before frame 9.
• Once the game has been completed, the winning team continues in the bracket. If this is the losing team’s first loss, they will move to the lower bracket with a chance to reach the final. If this is the losing team’s second loss, they are eliminated.
• As we get into later rounds of the bracket, we’ll attempt to get all remaining teams to finish the bracket on the same day/evening
• Partner substitutions will not be allowed once the tournament has started.
• No coaching allowed, similar to national tournament rules.

• Cash Prizes will be awarded to the top 4 teams. Exact amounts will be determined after registration closes
• Pins will be awarded to the top 4 teams 
• ILSA Points will be awarded based on the number of teams, as per our Points Structure

ILSA Points

If 32 teams compete in the Doubles Challenge Division, the following points per person will be earned:

• 1st place = 14 points
• 2nd place = 9 points
• 3rd place = 8 points
• 4th place = 6 points
• 5th-8th place = 5 points
• 9th-16th place = 3 points
• 17th-32nd place = 2 points
